Thanksgiving Recess 2009

November 26-29, 2009

All halls remain open through the break period. However, all outside doors will lock on Wednesday afternoon and remain locked until Monday morning. Residents remaining on campus are reminded to lock your room doors whenever you leave your room. Dens and lounges may be locked at various times. As noted in the Guest and Visitor section of Student/Community Expectations, each room may have one overnight guest, per room, per night.

Traffic will be busy around the residence halls before and after Thanksgiving Day.

Staff

House Fellows will be on duty in each hall. A schedule listing the House Fellows on duty and the duty phone number will be posted on each House Fellow’s door, on the Hall’s Residence Life Office door and at the Hall Desk.

Students are requested to report the presence of unauthorized persons to a staff member or to U.W. Police at 264-COPS (264-2677) immediately. Please be alert and do not allow nonresidents to enter the hall.

Dining and Culinary Services

All dining service units will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 through Saturday, Nov. 28. On Monday, Nov. 30, all units will be open regular hours. Please check the re-opening schedule as listed below:

Thanksgiving Day Meal

The Wisconsin Union will be making this Thanksgiving tasty and convenient with their Thanksgiving-to-Go dinners. Pre-cooked turkey dinners with all the trimmings will be available to order from the Catering Division online Nov. 2nd thru Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. On Wednesday, Nov. 25, people can pick-up the dinners in the Profile Room at Memorial Union from noon – 6 p.m. An individual dinner is just $9.00; all items will be sold a la carte (by the pound or “each” in the case of turkeys or pies). Technology Learning Centers - Desk Checkout

Last day of equipment checkout is Friday, Nov. 20th. All equipment is due on Monday, Nov. 23rd.

TLC Hours

All TLC’s will be open Wednesday, Nov. 25 – Sunday, Nov. 29, 24 hours a day. There will be no staff on duty.

TAS residents using Kronshage TLC: Wednesday, Nov. 25 - Saturday, Nov. 28: Closed. Sunday, Nov. 29: Open 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. There will be no staff on duty.

Desk

All hall desks will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 4:00 p.m. and remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 26.

Winter Break Housing

Winter Break Housing is available in all University Residence Halls, except Merit House, beginning at noon
on Jan. 2, 2010 for an additional fee of $150. The $150 fee is a non-negotiable fee that will apply for any
length of stay beginning Jan. 2, 2010. Information on how to sign-up for Winter Break Housing will be sent
to your wisc.edu email address. You must sign-up prior to Dec. 1, 2009 to be eligible. The University
Residence Halls open for the Spring 2010 semester on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at noon.
