Air Conditioners
Academic Year 2010-11
Residents with a confirmed medical need may request an air conditioner for their residence hall room at an additional charge. Students need to complete the following steps:
- Click on the air conditioner icon at right to print a copy of the Air Conditioner Agreement Form.
- Obtain a signature from your physician on the Air Conditioner Agreement Form verifying that there is a medical need for an air conditioner in your residence hall room; please do not send any medical documentation with this form.
- Complete and sign the Air Conditioner Agreement Form.
- Mail the Air Conditioner Agreement Form to the Assignment Office at 625 Babcock Drive, Slichter Hall, Madison, WI 53706-1213 or fax (608-262-4082) the form to our office. The form must be received at least two weeks prior to the residence halls opening.
- Chadbourne, Friedrick, Ogg, and Smith Halls have central air conditioning, so no Air Conditioner Agreement Form is needed for residents living in these halls.
Details regarding the charges for an air conditioner are explained on the Air Conditioner Agreement Form. Charges will appear on a student's second quarter bill - please do not send payment with your agreement form.
Spring Semester 2010
Residents with a confirmed medical need may request an air conditioner for their residence hall room at an additional charge. Air conditioners typically are not installed for the spring semester until at least April or when the temperature is consistently above 65 degrees. All requests must be received at least 2 weeks prior to May 16, 2010 (closing day). Please complete the following steps:
- If you had an air conditioner in your room for the previous fall semester, you will already have an Air Conditioner Agreement Form on file and can simply e-mail the Assignment Office at AssignMe@housing.wisc.edu to request an air conditioner installation.
- If you do not have a form on file, you will need to visit the Assignment Office at 625 Babcock Drive, Slichter Hall. Our office is open Monday to Friday, 7:45 am - 4:30 pm.
- Chadbourne, Friedrick, Ogg, and Smith Halls have central air conditioning, so no Air Conditioner Agreement Form is needed for residents living in these halls.
There is a daily rate of $2.62 for spring air conditioners beginning the day the unit is installed until May 16, 2010. A bill for these charges will be sent to the Billing Address you have on file, or if you have no billing address on file, the bill will be sent to your residence hall address.
