(convenience checks), home equity line of credit checks, brokerage account checks.
-
Do you accept payments from non-United States bank accounts or credit card companies?
-
No, we are unable to accept payments from foreign bank accounts or credit card companies.
- Why is a 2.75 percent convenience fee being charged for all online credit card payments for
Housing bills?
-
The University has contracted with CASHNet SmartPay to process online credit card transactions
for the Division of University Housing. The 2.75 percent convenience fee covers the cost of
CASHNet’s services as well as the fees charged by the credit card companies. The Division of
University Housing has decided to require those who make payments using a credit card to cover
the cost of this service rather than adding the cost to Housing’s room rates.
- Is the convenience fee refundable?
-
The 2.75 percent convenience fee is non-refundable.
- Why doesn’t the Division of University Housing take VISA credit cards?
-
VISA rules require merchants who assess a convenience fee for online credit card transactions
to also assess a convenience fee for other forms of online payments. The Division of University
Housing wants to provide its customers with the no fee option of making electronic check (eCheck)
payments for their Housing bills. As a result, we are unable to accept VISA credit cards for online
payments.
-
How can students give parents and other individuals the ability to view the student's Housing bills online and make electronic payments to the student's Housing account?
-
Students may give parents and other individuals the ability to view the student's Housing bills online and make electronic payments to the student's Housing account by setting them up as an authorized payer in Housing's online payment system. To add a new authorized payer, a student should go to the website http://www.housing.wisc.edu/billing/payment.php, click on the
Housing Bills Student Log In button and enter their Net ID and password. On the Authorized Payers section of Your Account page, click on the link titled Add New. On the next screen, enter the name of the authorized payer and their email address and click on the OK button. An email will be sent
to the new authorized payer which will include their login name and temporary password. Once the
authorized payer receives this information, they may access Housing’s online payment system by going
to the web site https://commerce.cashnet.com/uwmadisonpay. On the login page, the authorized payer will need to enter their login name and temporary password. After logging in, they will be able to
change their password, set up and store their own profile and account information, check account
balances, view bills and make electronic payments.
