Involvement:
Involvement is inextricably linked to the creation of learners-these learners are more likely to stay in college, place a higher value on their education and will likely be more responsible and active community members. The benefits of involvement stretch far beyond social connections, although that is also an important component.
What does that mean?
Getting involved in your college community not only helps you make friends, but also can help you develop leadership and communication skills, explore career interests, and apply what you are learning in the classroom.
At UW-Madison, we strive to create communities in which student involvement can occur any time of the year; communities in which any resident can become involved for any length of time and in whatever manner suits their interests. Some residents would like a long-standing leadership opportunity while others would like to plan a one-time event. Some residents simply would like to participate in house/hall community events or share their voice at hall meeting.
